Redeeming Men In Black: International

Men In Black: International was an okay movie. That’s pretty much the gist of the 15 minutes of this podcast. It starred Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Rebecca Ferguson, and Kumail Nanjiani.

I feel like the movie tried to hard to be something it wasn’t. Tessa Thompson’s character, Agent M, should have been the Tommy Lee Jones character from the older MiB movies. Hemsworth could have played the Will Smith character and everything would have worked out fairly well. But it felt like both actors were trying to be the Will Smith character so there was no “straight guy” to play off of. That’s what it felt like through the whole movie and it was distracting. There were redeeming qualities, of course. The movie is expensive and it shows. The effects are really nice and well done. The plot was executed well enough, albeit a little predictable.

Overall, I think you could enjoy this movie. It probably ranks last in the echelon of the Men In Black movies, but there are worse things to watch. Stay tuned for next episode when I talk about my sweepstakes win!

As always, thank you to Broke For Free for the use of Nite Owl on the podcast. It is much appreciated.
